If you want to get serious about supporting monarchs, you can plant a Monarch Waystation. Monarch Waystations are planted by homeowners to provide nectar sources and caterpillar food sources for monarch butterflies. These sites are certified by Monarch Watch at the University of Kansas that keeps a registry of sites all across the country. Monarch Waystations are being constructed to attempt to compensate for the loss of wild milkweed habitat, particulary as a result of genetically modified crops that carry resistance to the the herbicide Roundup.
